Spring Book Fair in the library needs your help!

Thank you!

Welcome back! I hope you all had a nice February vacation!

We have had a great week in room 113. The students have eased back into the routines and expectations after a week off, and my extended leave. It's great to be back and see the children and all their excitement.

We have started a few new things this week. As a class, Room 113 is working on putting Mr. Potato head back together again. We can do this by SOARing and earning compliments from other adults in the building. In the first week we have earned 3 pieces!

We are also now working on our own individual Mr. Potato heads. If students shows examples of SOARing in class they will earn a piece. Once they fill up their potato head they can earn a prize from the prize box.

We had many visitors in today to read to us for Dr. Seuss' birthday and to celebrate Read Across America.

Thank you to Chief Kent who read to the whole first grade in the library,

Mrs. Clancy, our reading specialist,

and Mr. D!

We enjoyed listening to all of your favorite Dr. Seuss stories!

Mrs. Christiansen came in today also and read us Chrysanthemum. We did an activity that each child had to fold a paper heart when one of the kids says something not so nice to Chrysanthemum. When someone said something kind, students were to unfold their hearts. We talked about how you can still see the folds, even if the heart is back to it's regular shape. We talked about how we should try our hardest to always say nice things to others and that are words can last.

On Thursday Mr. Musselman came in to FW and did a special presentation for us in the auditorium called Star Lab. It is a planetarium and we got to see the night sky and constellations. It was very neat.

December 1, 2017

Wow! I can’t believe it is December! Where has the time gone?

We have been busy in room 113. We are learning about the seasons and how they affect people and plants and animals. Soon students will complete a poster describing their favorite season. Be sure to be on the lookout on SeeSaw for that project! If you do not have access to your child’s SeeSaw account because you misplaced the login, please let me know and I will send you home another copy.

We have been working in math with adding different groups. The students have been doing a great job in math. I am really impressed. Students are also welcome to do ST Math at home on an iPad. They know how to login!

We have been working hard as a class to show different aspects of our SOARs motto around the school. We have received 10 compliments from different teachers at different times and will be celebrating Monday with a pajama day! This is totally optional!! Students can wear whatever they would like (pjs, sweats, etc). Please make sure students wear sneakers as we have gym on Monday. They can bring slippers to change into if they would like. Again, this is totally optional- please do not feel like you need to go out and buy anything special.

Tomorrow is my due date! I am not sure when baby Marsh will be arriving, but I plan on being in school right until I go into labor. Hopefully I will be in Monday, but if I am not I will be back after February vacation. I will be checking email while I am gone, so if anything arises please do not hesitate to email me. Feel free to copy me on any emails you may send Ms. Kelly as well. Her contact information should have been in backpacks today.

Have an awesome weekend!

Wow!

Where has the time gone? I cannot believe it is November! We had an exciting week this week with Halloween and we had a SOARs Assembly on Friday. The assembly was focused on showing Self Control- the “S” in our motto. Congrats to Ankitha for receiving an award for showing Self- Control and to Arnav for competing in the relay race for showing Self-Control as well!

We finished up our unit on plants and have started learning more about animals. We will continue to focus on animals and their parts.

Please make sure you are checking folders every day for information coming home. There are going to be notices soon regarding conferences from your child’s reading teacher. If you need me to send you their contact information please let me know!

We have been using ST Math every day in school. Your student can also do it at home. Make sure on the iPad they click “homework” and they all know their logins. Please have them try all by themselves so they are learning the techniques.

Head over to Instagram to see pictures from the week and other classroom happenings!
