September 22

What a busy week we have had in Room 113!

This week we have started talking about farm animals and their different parts in order for our trip to Drumlin Farm October 6th. Please send in the permission form for the field trip as soon as you can.

Picture Day will be Wednesday September 27th. Forms went home in backpacks today!!

We have dived into our math program. We have been exploring with shapes and creating amazing designs with them.

We will begin switching into our reading classes on Monday. Students met their reading teacher for a few minutes today. We will be having snack in our reading classes. Please talk to your student about what they should have for snack every day. That saves them the confusion of what to have. Reminder: snacks in all classrooms need to be nut free.

My dates were off at Open House! I put myself a week ahead- homework will start on October 2nd!

Thursday we had Mr. Musselman in our room to begin talking to us about our science unit on pattern in the sky. We will continue begin to watch the sun and our shadows when the weather gets better!

I am sure you heard our Friday afternoon was exciting. We got a lesson on how to use our iPads from Mrs. Ardizzoni, and even put our pictures on our iPads so we can tell them apart! We will begin using them for instruction next week.

Classroom news- September 8, 2017

We have had a busy first week in First Grade! It was so nice to get to know your students this week and hear about different special things they did this summer. I am looking forward to watching them grow and learn all year long.

*Students have worked hard to learn each other’s names. We will continue to do so next week.

*We have also been working on learning the new routines of First Grade. It is a little different this year with our longer school day- but we are adjusting! Please make sure that you label everything of your students’. We are already missing a new items!

*Please talk to your student about what they are having for lunch-what they are to buy or if you have packed them a lunch. It saves us time and confusion.

*If your students' transportation changes for the end of the school day please send in a note!
If transportation changes during the day- feel free to email me: kemarsh@bpsk12.org. You can call Mrs. Conley in the office too!

*Students have seemed to really enjoy going to Specials. Please make sure your child has their sneakers for gym class on Mondays and Wednesdays.

*We will go to the library every other Tuesday, starting next week.

*This year we will have a lot of extra hands in our classroom. Mrs. Kelly is an Instructional Assistant assigned to first grade this year who will be helping us out, as well as Mrs. DeMarco, Ms. Christopher, Ms. Maria and Ms. Maidrand. I am sure you will hear their names at home! We are lucky to have them.

Here are some highlights of our week:
